The Earthed Residency

June - December 2023 | Somerset, England.

Ground is what lies beneath our feet. It is the place where we already stand; and a place from which to step; the place or the circumstances to which we belong. It is what holds and supports us, but also what we do not want to be true; it is what challenges us irrespective of our hopes or needs. It is the living underlying foundation that tells us what we are, where we are, what season we are in and what, no matter what we wish in the abstract, is about to happen in our body, in the world, or in the conversation between the two. – David Whyte, Ground, Consolations.

The Earthed Residency is a nature inspired, embodied learning opportunity for facilitators, coaches, educators and change makers.

We are offering a 6 month ‘Learning Ground’ - a space to provide focussed time, removed from our usual environments and ways of working. Nurturing a peer community of practice, exploring specific inquiries and regenerative practices to support the development of our work as practitioners.

Timeline: June - December 2023

One full day per month for peer community learning days + optional Fridays every week. Online access to shared learnings.

Location: Somerset, UK.

Investment: £690 per person

Only 8 places will be offered.

If you would like to register for our Q&A sessions or arrange an in-person meeting on the land - please get in touch.

Application deadline is the next full ‘Strawberry Moon’ 4th June. [NOW CLOSED]

Why a residency?

We are offering the ‘residency’ in very much the same way as an artist residency.

Providing a unique and focussed ‘time and space’ to remove ourselves from our usual environments and ways of working. To prepare the 'soil' for a deeper exploration and reflection through the specific questions or inquiries within your work.

In order for us to make the radical shifts required toward regenerative futures - we need to rehearse new innovative learning practices which allow us to practise, pre-figure and embody evolutionary ways of ‘knowing’ and collaborating. To avoid falling into the industrial models of individual, linear commoditised knowledge.

This residency is therefore not a transfer of information and content. We are creating the conditions for a mutual emergent ‘learning ground’ to be co-designed and prototyped by all of us.

We value unlearning as much as learning, recognising the complex challenges we face don’t have pre-defined solutions or meanings.  We remind ourselves to stay open to the often challenging lessons of working at our learning edges.

Our invitation

As professional coaches and facilitators, who met through the Climate Coaching Alliance - we came together around the opportunity to steward 17 acres of land in Somerset, near Bristol and Bath, as a place to ‘ground’ our work, and explore how the land could inform our professional and personal practices.

The residency is being designed as an extension of our own experience as stewards of the land and how this has had a profound effect on our professional practices. We have shared some of our experiences

As a result of the impact it has had on us and our work, we are now opening up opportunities to create a diverse community of practice and we are inviting applications for practitioners to join us.

We are opening a space - a ‘Learning Ground’ - to nurture an emerging community of nature inspired practitioners. Growing from a collective desire to slow down, work with depth, intentionality informed by Nature’s rhythms and cycles.

A place to grow together - to deepen your practice and connect with others.
